Abe Ferraro
Albany, NY
Residency: July – August 2006
Abe Ferraro works with interactive performance installations that explore the struggle that artists experience to create, promote and sell their work. Hard work, physical endurance, humor and sarcasm are integral components in his performances. His Stationary Climber, a vertical climbing track that rotates as he climbs it, depicts the struggle – both mental and physical – that artists undergo during the process of creating their art. Ferraro holds an MA and MFA from SUNY Albany and a BFA from SUNY Fredonia. He has appeared in solo performance/shows at Artists Space in New York City and at Fulton Street Gallery in Troy, NY. A carpenter, metal fabricator and furniture maker, he lectures at Columbia Greene Community College, Hudson, NY, and is an art installer at the Tang Museum in Saratoga, NY.
