ARTISTS IN ACTION

Please enjoy the following videos. We've had the opportunity to engage in conversations with each artist from our last cohorts. These talented individuals have converged from diverse locations to spend an enriching two months at the Sculpture Space studios in Utica, New York.

Living and working collectively, our visiting artists not only cultivate and concentrate on their work, but also foster valuable friendships and connections. Sculpture Space, established in 1976, stands as a cornerstone in the practices of numerous artists, boasting a substantial network of over 650 alumni. It serves as a unique and creative hub, contributing to broader discussions within the sculpture community.

By providing these videos, our aim is to shed light on the intricate process of sculpting and provide a glimpse into the world of Sculpture Space. The intentional "wackiness" and the non-linear, circuitous nature of the artistic process may seem unconventional, but within this journey emerges a distinct form that inspires creativity and cultural growth. Through this inspiration, we contribute in our way to making a positive impact on the world.

Supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts, numerous foundations, and our dedicated community, Sculpture Space has thrived for almost five decades. It is our community's tireless efforts that have fueled this creative force, bringing a wave of artistic energy to the Mohawk Valley.
